Briersfield Stay Top

Briersfield 1 v  Limerick Brakes 1 A quite affair for a top of the table clash. Both sides played fast attacking football, the surprise was that there was not more goals. The Brakes piled on the pressure early on with Trevor Cosgrove and Baz Hourigan having shots saved by The Fields keeper John Riordan. The league leaders had a great chance to take the lead right on the stroke of half time when Eddie Shine penalty rebounded off the crossbar. After the break The Fields midfield took control at this stage with Keith Shine and pulling the strings. With fifteen minutes to go Tom Murphy gave the table toppers the lead when he dribbled his way past the outstretched defenders to give Mike Moloney no chance. Things were looking good for the Field at this stage. Derek Casey got his side together and they started to make inroads into the Fields half. They got a deserved goal when Liam o Brien finished off a sweeping move. Tame enough game. Briersfield will be the happier. They still stand three points clear at the top of the table. man Of The match Briersfield Dave Kelly Brakes Dave Casey
