Supercoopers 3  V Craic Merchants 4  A hugely enjoyable and sporting rollercoaster of a game. Merchants got right down to business with an opening goal in the first minute when Robbie Carey set up livewire centre forward Keith Ryan. Pat O Callaghan’s Scoopers had hardly time to restart when Steve Gleeson jnr set up Ryan for number two. One felt at this stage that it was going to be a long night for the Scoopers keeper Jason Daly. However gradually Tom Walsh and Greg O Brien got to grips with the lively Merchants forwards.   Ex Corbally striker Eddie Price put them back in the game with a smashing shot giving the Declan Barriscale no chance. Merchants were shocked when shortly afterwards when Andrew Gleeson’s cross was nodded in by Price. If that was not bad enough Mike Monahan stepped up to give Scoopers the lead. What does Steve Gleeson player coach of Merchants do now. In an inspired move he substitutes himself and brings on the ever reliable Finbarr Stapleton. The ex Freddy’s Angels star made an immediate impact. His pin point shot beat the Daly at the near post. Level with minutes to go. Merchants were not finished however and a cross from the left by Ryan saw Robbie Carey header beat Daly for the winner. What a game.
